Use Your Brain To Blog

Blogging has become the new way to create and maintain your business brand. Even if you work for another company, and are not your own boss, a blog can make commercial sense if you are interested in ever getting a raise or increasing your personal credibility. Blogging can be a two way sword, though. If you lack grammatical sense and style, writing about your neighbors annoying cats isn't going to help your professional credibility at all.

When writing about subjects online, it is best to stay above your personal feelings. Your current employer or clients do not want their personal information and relationship issues published online. Putting that kind of information out there is something that can never be taken back.

So, what to blog about? For instance, if you are a mac consultant in NYC, possibly the best in Mac consulting and mac support, maybe even better than Apple itself, you could do a blog about the little tricks you have learned to help Macs be more user friendly. Macs are quite possibly the most user friendly computer interface, but because more people are familiar with the Windows interface, there might be some amazing clarifications you could offer about operating a Mac.

One of the great things about a Mac mouse is there is only one button to click. Not a right and left button, but just one. What is the right click button for anyway? On a Windows OS, the right click button will normally pull up a list of short cuts when pressed. While a Mac does not have a right click button, there is a combination of keys you can use to accomplish the same shortcut list drop down. Press Control and then click. Easy, wasn't it?

If you want to establish yourself as an expert in your field, any field, the bast way to do that is to begin blogging, and then promoting your blog. You can advertise your blog in many different ways and through different forums, but promoting your blog is going to help you to be able to promote yourself. So, after writing one hundred to a thousand words on a topic you are an expert in, spell check, grammar check and then read it through aloud before publishing online. While you might not think anyone would ever read your blog, chances are they will, and you want to present yourself well.
